This study was written for the 2007 Healdsburg Research Seminar on Megaregions. It focuses on polycentric mega-city regions in Western European as measured by the following principles: (1) evidential emphasis, ideas are backed up by customized data and analysis; (2) relational emphasis, cities are to be understood through connections with other cities; and (3) process emphasis, this means identifying agents: who is doing the connecting and why?
